TANNING TIPS
SUNKISSED SOLUTION
YOUR GO-TO GUIDE
Preparation:
- Make sure your area is well-ventilated. An extraction machine, fan, or good old-fashioned window will do the trick.
- Protect the floor and surrounding surfaces with a dark mat – no one likes tan-stained floors.
- Ensure your clients are exfoliated and well-prepped. Think of it as getting their skin ready for a date with the sun.
Set Up
- Ensure you’re tanning in a well-ventilated space – whether that’s a tent, a shower, or with an extraction machine. No one wants a golden glow at the cost of their fresh air!
- Assemble the HVLP machine according to the manufacturer's instructions. Don’t wing it – we don’t need any DIY disasters here.
- Fill the spray gun cup with GOLDIE TAN.
- Adjust the spray gun settings for a fine mist. Keep your nozzle vertical and your pressure just right – Goldilocks style, not too fast, not too slow.
Client Preparation
- Advise your client on any consumables, such as a hair net, disposable g-strings or bras and wipes.
- Encourage your clients to apply barrier cream to dry-prone areas like elbows, knees, hands, and feet.
Application
- Pour a minimum of 100ml into your pot/gun
- Ensure your gun is adjusted to your liking (not too fast as this will add too much product to the skin resulting in drips)
- Once hose is attached and machine is on, you are ready to spray
- Hold the gun approximately 15cm - 20cm away from the skin. Move in a smooth, sweeping motion.
- Ensure even coverage before blending
Face & Hands
- Spray the face lightly, ensuring the client closes their eyes and holds their breath.
- Use a lighter application on the hands, bending fingers to reach creases.
- The same applies for feet. Often, a light coat on the feet is all you need – the solution falls on the feet during application like magic.
Final Touches
- Check for missed spots and touch up as needed. You’re basically a tan detective now.
- Buff areas like elbows, knees, feet, hands, and underarms. Smooth operator.
- Dry your client with some extra love. Ensure they feel dry before letting them dress. Sticky is normal and should subside in 15 - 30 minutes.
Developing Times
- 1 - 2 hour Light
- 2 - 3 hours Medium
- 4 + hours Dark
After Care
- Advise the client to avoid water, sweating, and tight clothing for at least 8 hours. No gym, no pool, no saunas, no long dips!
- Moisturiser can be applied 24 hours post application
- We recommend clients to wear loose, dark clothing to prevent staining. Baggy is the new black.
Cleaning
- Clean the HVLP machine with luke warm water and thoroughly after your tanning shift.
- Store your Goldie tan in a cool dry place!
